The European Commission action plan, the "European Technology Transfer Initiative at the Joint Research Centre", specifies five primary actions aimed at improving technology transfer and collaboration in research across Europe. The creation of the European Technology Transfer Network (ETTN) is one of these actions and aims to make technical research and expertise more widely available for European industry and to stimulate their commercial exploitation. It also aims at improving the technology transfer process through an effective network of services and information exchange. ETTN aims to translate technological knowledge and achievements into industrial and commercial successes. The whole action is divided into five lots and this call is related to Lot 4 which is divided into three: - The capital goods industries; - Consumer goods industries; - Basic industries. Under this call the Commission seeks to identify in each of these lots, an industrial sector which will implement and demonstrate the concept of a virtual technology park. Each sector must be organised as one logical node and three to five physical nodes. The main contractor must provide a set of functions in order to guarantee the implementation of the virtual technology park including the daily running, the development of services and the technical assistance.
