In order to review existing EU guidance documents on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), the European Commission, DG XI, will award a study which will examine existing guidance documents, in particular the guidance on scoping, screening and the EIA review checklist. The study should: - Identify and analyse the use of the EU guidance documents on EIA in the Member States and identify possible improvements; - Update the guidance documents in order to adapt them to more practical use and in order to reflect the evolution in EIA practice and legislation since the existing guidance documents were published; - Produce a user-friendly Web version of the guidance documents in all official languages of the EU. The study should be completed within 12 months.
