CORDIS RTD-Projects covers latest Third Framework contracts
The CORDIS database "RTD-Projects" now contains information on projects selected under the second stage of a number of programmes within the Community's Third Framework Programme for research and technological development. Already available are details of projects under the programme of R&D in advanced communications technologies in Europe (RACE 2) plus the majority of areas within the specific programme of RTD in telematics systems in areas of general interest, these being; library networks and services (LIBRARIES), telematics systems for rural areas (ORA), flexible and distance learning (DELTA 2), road transport (DRIVE 2), European nervous systems (ENS) and health care (AIM 2). It is expected that new projects under the specific RTD programme in information technologies (ESPRIT 3) will also be on line by mid November 1992. Other specific programmes whose most recent phase is now represented on RTD-Projects include science and technology for developement (STD 3), environment (listed under the Cordis acronym "ENV C"), biomedicine and health (BIOMED), and marine science and technology (MAST 2). Project information includes the title, a summary of objectives, starting date and duration, status, the name of the prime contractor plus a listing of partners involved, and contact person. Records are updated and new records added as information on currently active or new projects becomes available to CORDIS. RTD-Projects provides a rapid guide to individual research and technological development projects financed wholly or partly by the European Communities, from 1986 to the present. Also included on the database are initiatives, studies and demonstrations not necessarily involving contracts but benefiting from Community financing or coordination, either within a Commission programme or in support of Community RTD policy. The continued increase in the use of this CORDIS service reflects the growing importance of pan-European electronic information and dissemination in all fields of RTD.
