EEA countries will cooperate in FP5
The Council of the European Union has approved the cooperation of Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein - countries within the European Economic Area (EEA) - in the Fifth Framework Programme (FP5) for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration (RTD). The EEA agreement extends the single market of the European Union to three countries, namely Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. Protocol 31 of the agreement gave these countries the right to cooperate in the field of research and scientific development under the Third and the Fourth Framework Programme. The Council's approval on the 21 February 1999 requires an amendment to Protocol 31, extending the cooperation to include the FP5.
