The Council of the European Union approved on behalf of the Community a Decision of the European Economic Area (EEA) Joint Committee, with the aim of integrating into the existing Agreement, the recently adopted acquis in the field of transport.

This Decision (1692/96/EC of 23 July 1996) consisted of European Community guidelines for the development of the trans-European networks.
