Persons willing to supply and store certain subtypes of inactivated antigens of the foot-and-mouth disease virus are invited to submit an expression of interest to the European Commission, DG VI. A list of candidates meeting certain technical and financial requirements (as specified in the Official Journal) will then be drawn up who will then be invited to tender for specific contracts. The list will be maintained until 1 September 2002. The successful applicant would be expected to supply and store the antigen and formulate, produce, bottle and distribute vaccines against foot-and-mouth disease. The antigens required by DG VI are 2,000,000 doses of A Iran 96, 500,000 doses of A Malaysia 97, 500,000 doses of SAT1, 500,000 doses of SAT2 (South Africa), 500,000 doses of SAT2 (East Africa) and 500,000 doses of SAT3.
