Funded by the EU, the NMPTEAM2 (Improving the services of the NMP NCP network through trans-national activities 2) project was set up to build on the success of the previous project, NMP TEAM. NMPTEAM2 aimed to further improve the standards and quality of services provided by the NCPs to encourage more participation and raise the quality of submitted research proposals. NMPTEAM2 undertook several activities to strengthen transnational research collaboration. To this effect, the project website was updated to incorporate more functionality and information with 2 031 registered users from 72 countries, while 54 NMP NCPs from 32 countries validated entries. The Partner Search facility was upgraded and used by Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) participants with 88 partner searches and 662 published partner offers. Two virtual brokerage events were held using iLinc, a Web and video collaboration tool, with 66 people participating. Five training workshops were organised for NMP NCPs with over 84 participants. In addition, eight staff exchange and five twinning schemes were implemented for experienced NCPs to impart their knowledge and expertise to less experienced colleagues. Seven brokerage events were also organised and aimed at assisting NCP clients to meet potential partners and build strong consortiums. They attracted more than 600 participants from 40 countries. Four campaigns in Latvia, Hungary, Poland and Romania helped raise awareness of Horizon 2020 and NMP NCP services. Ten factsheets and five comprehensive e-guides were produced to assist all NMP NCPs in delivering consistent and excellent services. NMPTEAM2 continued where its predecessor left off by further strengthening the NMP NCP network, simplifying access to FP7 calls, lowering entry barriers for newcomers and raising the bar for submitted proposals.
