EPO tender for its SDMS system
The European Patent Organisation has issued an invitation to tender for the migration and conversion of its SDMS system (search data management system). The conversion and migration should last approximately seven months and will be based on CA-IDMS (integrated data management system), and associated programs, to IBM DB2. The European Patent Office is an inter-governmental organisation covering 19 member states (the members of the European Union together with Liechtenstein, Monaco, Switzerland, and Cyprus). The body is charged with the searching and examination of European patent applications and the granting of European patents. It employs approximately 4,600 staff at the EPO headquarters in Munich, Germany, at a branch office in The Hague, the Netherlands, and at sub-offices in Berlin, Germany, and Vienna, Austria.
