Progress made by researchers working to harness energy from fusion at the Association Forschungszentrum and European Commission's Karlsruhe laboratory has been compiled in a recently published report. The report explains how the 'Tokamak' represents the main development line of the common fusion programme. It also describes how, in parallel, the stellarator concept is under development to improve potentially the confinement for reactor operation. The researchers working on this project hope their report may inspire readers to contact them for more information. The nuclear fusion project annual report of the association Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe/Euratom covers the period October 1998 to September 1999.
