As a result of the new EU Directive on noise emissions from equipment used outdoors, the Environment DG is looking for researchers to carry out a study of the technology available to reduce noise from lawn mowers. This work should show whether and to what extent technical progress allows a reduction in the limit values shown at 'stage 1' for lawnmowers and lawn trimmers or lawn edge trimmers. If appropriate, the Commission will present a proposal to amend the Directive.
