The European Commission's Directorate-General for Health and Consumer protection has published a call for tenders for a study relating to the phenomenon of consumer overindebtedness. The contract is divided into two lots, covering the following aspects: - Lot 1: Statistical aspects: - - collection and analysis of the statistical data currently available enabling the extent of this problem in the Member States, as well as its cross-border impact, to be quantified; - - critical investigation of the methodological approaches currently in use and formulation of proposal with a view to standardising these methods. - Lot 2: Legal aspects: - - critical comparative survey of existing national legislation on the subject of methods for preventing and dealing with situations of consumer overindebtedness.
