A study on healthcare safety and the responsibility of healthcare providers in the European Union is required by the European Commission's DG for Consumer protection and health. The study should aim to understand and compare for each of the EU Member States, the factual and legal context of health care, healthcare safety and regulations relating to the responsibilities of healthcare providers and to compensation for victims. It should aim to obtain information for an analysis and evaluation of the current situation as well as identifying the main issues and problems associated with these areas.
