Standards and conformity assessment requirements in certain industrial sectors
The European Commission is inviting tenders for studies to analyse the potential for equivalence of regulations, standards and conformity assessment requirements between the EU and Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA in certain industrial sectors. The studies have the following objectives: - to give an overall appreciation of the potential to establish equivalence of regulations, standards and conformity assessment requirements between the EU and Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US, respectively, within certain industrial sectors; - in view of the degree of equivalence that could be established and differences in technical requirement identified, give recommendations on suitable means and instruments for facilitating trade. This would be done by (1) developing a methodology for the assessment of equivalence of requirements in regulations, standards and conformity assessment procedures and (2) based on that methodology, carry out an initial assessment of the potential for equivalence of regulations, standards and/or conformity assessment requirements in certain industrial sectors.
