An analysis of the level of complementarity between the Community Biodiversity Strategy and National Biodiversity Strategies developed by Member States under the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, is the subject of an invitation to tender issued by the Environment Directorate-General. The Commission adopted a Community Biodiversity Strategy on 4 February 1998, which will be implemented by developing specific sectoral action plans and other measures. In order to enhance the complementarity and synergies between the Community Biodiversity Strategy and the actions proposed by the Member States in their own national strategies, the Commission requires a review of the contents and the level of implementation of Member States' strategies and the action plan.
