Perspectives on science policy in South Africa
The prominent South African social scientist Dr HC (Bok) Marias is publicising his latest book 'Perspectives on science policy in South Africa', which provides the first systematic analysis of science and technology policy in South Africa since the end of apartheid. The book is written for stakeholders and decision-makers in the fields of science and research. It provides an overview and critical evaluation of the state of research and technology development in South Africa, alongside new theoretical perspectives and a prognosis on future development. Dr Marias has experience in the research management and consultation fields, and has worked for more than 15 years in the National South Africa science council environment, as deputy president of the South African Human sciences research council, and as a leader of several national research programmes.
