The Enterprise Directorate-General will shortly call for tenders for a business impact study for a proposed EU directive concerning the environmental impact of electrical and electronic equipment. The study should be a comprehensive and detailed analysis of the expected costs and benefits to be derived from the implementation of a proposal for a directive on the environmental impact of the product design of electrical and electronic equipment on the various stakeholders in the European Union. The study will also identify other factors that have significant impact on the costs and/or benefits for the stakeholders of electrical and electronic equipment which could suitably be regulated by the directive and define appropriate EU-wide indicators which could be used as a basis for future assessments of the actual impact of the implementation of the directive. The Commission estimates some 150,000 euro will be available to fund this project.
