Technical assistance positions available
An invitation to tender has been issued by the European Commission (DG Research), within the context of the implementation of the European Community's Fifth Framework programme for research, technological development and demonstration (1998-2002) and of the European Atomic Energy Community's specific research and education programme (1998-2002) (OJ L 26 of 1.2.1999). The intention is to conclude multiple framework contracts for the provision of assistance services from experts - project technical assistants (PTAs) - who are to be responsible, under the supervision of the Commission services, for the technical monitoring and operation of research projects. The Commission encourages the participation of women scientists in the Fifth Framework programme. The PTAs may tender either as individuals or through a legal entity employing 1 or more experts. The invitation to tender is divided into 41 lots. The expertise required and the workload are different for each lot. Information on this appears in the tender documents drawn up for each lot. The lots correspond to the following research fields: Quality of life and management of living resources: 11 - food, nutrition and health; 12 - control of infectious diseases; 13 - the 'cell factory'; 14 - environment and health; 15 - sustainable agriculture, fisheries and forestry, and integrated development of rural areas; 16 - the ageing population and disabilities; 17 - chronic and degenerative diseases; 18 - research into genomes and diseases of genetic origin; 19 - neurosciences; 110 - public health and health services research; 111 - research relating to persons with disabilities; 112 - biomedical ethics and bioethics; 113 - socio-economic aspects of life sciences and technologies. Competitive and sustainable growth: 21 - innovative products, processes and organization; 22 - sustainable mobility and intermodality; 23: 231 - land transport, 232 - marine technologies; 24 - new perspectives in aeronautics; 25 - material and their technologies; 26 - measurements and testing; 27 - support for research infrastructure. Energy, environment and sustainable development: 31 - sustainable management and quality of water; 32 - global change, climate and biodiversity, including support for research infrastructure; 33 - sustainable marine ecosystems, including support for research infrastructure; 34 - the city of tomorrow and cultural heritage; 35: 351 - the fight against natural and technological hazards, including support for research infrastructure, 352 - development of earth observation, 353 - socio-economic aspects of environmental change; 36 - non nuclear energy; 37 - nuclear fission energy; 38 - radiation protection.
