Emissions from non-road machinery
The Environment Directorate-General intends to launch a call for proposals for a study contract covering: - the review of and, if appropriate, a proposal for changes to the 'averaging and banking system' which is included in the proposal for an amendment of directive 97/68.EC to cover also small spark-ignition engines (COM (2000) 840); - possible technologies to reduce emissions of particles from small spark ignition engines notably 2-stroke engines; - feasibility study on a third stage of emission limits for compression-ignition engines with a power output between 18 and 560 kW; - feasibility study on the possible extension of the scope to cover railway locomotives and ships (five to 30 years and in an intermediate (five to ten years) perspective.
