Studies on the implementation of the EU data protection directive required
The European Commission will soon publish calls for tenders for various management consultancy services to assist in the preparation of a report on the implementation of the EU directive (95/46) concerning data protection. Studies in the following areas will be required and should take account of developments in information technology: - legally comparative study on the provisions and jurisprudence applicable to preventing the free movement of goods; May 2001; - analysis of certain aspects of weapons classification according to Directive 91/477; April 2001; - study on the implementation of Directive 96/9/EC on databases; April 2001; - study on the impact of copyright and associated laws on the European economy; April 2001; - study on the development and implications of patent law in the field of biotechnology and genetic engineering; March 2001; - study on the role of national patent offices, of the European patent office and of the Japanese and American patent offices in promoting the patent system; March 2001; - study on the possible introduction of an insurance to cover litigation costs relating to patents; March 2001.
