EU-funded medical advances showcase in Paris
The importance of European-funded medical research will be the main focus at an event attended by European Research Commissioner, Philippe Busquin on 21 May in Paris. Medical advances involving use of umbilical cord blood in the treatment of babies with leukaemia, a comparative study of care methods for premature babies, evaluation of intensive care units and the formation of the brain in the foetus will be the areas covered by the projects. The event, which will involve the presentation of the results of this research to the press as well as the Commissioner, will also highlight that the funds dedicated to medical research by the European Union have doubled in the last ten years. osal'
