The European Commission's Energy and Transport DG has issued a call for tenders for a study on the accessibility of urban transport to people with reduced mobility. The study seeks to provide a comprehensive overview of the EU situation related to accessibility for people with reduced mobility (PRM). Various factors helping to assess the accessibility should be considered such as: technology; legislation (national/EU); economical/social aspects. The main barriers and weaknesses which affect an efficient mobility of PRM will be identified and the solutions/recommendations proposed. The study will also gather EU statistical data on the use of various urban transport modes, identify the EU best practices of PRM transport and assess the potential of the demand for each specific mode. For further information, please contact: European Commission Directorate-General for Energy and Transport Directorate D, Unit D4 Attn: Mr José Riesgo rue de la Loi/Wetstraat 200 B-1049 Brussels Tel: +32-2-295 79 39 Fax +32-2-296 47 10 E-mail: Jose.Riesgo@cec.eu.int
