Safety studies required
The European Commission's Health and Consumer Protection DG has given prior information of a call for tenders for various study services. The European Commission intends issuing an open invitation to tender for the provision of assistance, on the one hand, in identifying the risks and hazards associated with various consumer products coming within the scope of the general product safety directive and, on the other hand, in identifying the safety objectives to meet said directive's general safety requirements. This information will be used to prepare the standardisation mandates the Commission will send to the European standards bodies, who will draw up the standards. Abiding by such standards will mean presumption of conformity with the directive's general requirements regarding safety. The available budget is likely to be 150,000 euro
