The Transport and Energy Directorate General of the European Commission has announced a call for proposals for the extension of existing contracts under the specific programme for research, technological development and demonstration on 'Energy, environment and sustainable development, part B: Energy' (1998 - 2002) to include partners from the 'newly associated States' (NAS). Those eligible to participate in indirect RTD actions under the specific programme are invited to submit proposals for research and technological development projects, demonstration projects, combined RTD/demonstration projects, thematic networks and concerted actions that address Annex V of the work programme. This call concerns exclusively the extension of running 'Energy, environment and sustainable development, part B: Energy' contracts by new participants from the NAS: Bulgaria, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. One or more new partners from NAS may be included in the extension. The indicative budget available for the call is five million euro. Support will only be considered for the extension of existing 'Energy, environment and sustainable development, part B: Energy' contracts to include partners from NAS. The additional participants should clearly add value to the existing projects. The duration of the existing contract should be such that an extension to partners from NAS is useful. It is recommended that the minimum remaining duration of the existing contract should be at least one year, running from 14 December 2001. Proposals can be submitted for all activities of the programme, and should be submitted by the co-ordinator acting on behalf of al the participants in the existing project, together with the new participants from the NAS.Proposals should be sent to the following address: 'ENERGIE-NAS' The Research Proposal Office (ORBN 8) Square Frère Orban/Frère Orban-plein 8 B-1040 Brussels For further information on proposals to extend existing contracts managed by DG Transport and Energy, please contact: European Commission Directorate-General TREN B/2 Energy Info-desk DM 24, 7/40 Rue de la Loi/Wetstraat 200 B-1049 Brussels fax: +32-2-295 4349 E-mail: tren-energyRTDinfo@ec.europa.eu For further information on proposals to extend existing contracts managed by DG Research, please contact: European Commission Energy Info-desk MO 75 Rue de la Loi/Wetsraat 200 B-1049 Brussels Fax: +32-2-296 0621 E-mail: helpline-energy@ec.europa.eu for an updated version of the work programme, please consult the following web address: http://cordis.europa.eu/eesd(opens in new window)
