Commission calls for tenders for selection and promotion of nominees for the European digital content prize
The European Commissions Information Society DG has issued a call for tenders for the selection and promotion of nominees for the European digital content prize. The tender concerns the provision of services for three annual European digital content prizes, from the period January 2002 to December 2004. The activities are intended to contribute to the objectives of the programme under which they will be financed, the eContent programme. In order to ensure continuity of the initiative, the tender concerns the provision of services for three separate events: January 2002 to December 2002, January 2003 to December 2003 and January 2004 to December 2004. The tenderers are invited to submit an offer taking into account that the confirmation of the selected organisation of the first year's event is subject to the favourable evaluation of the previous year's prize carried out by the Commission and the provision for a European digital content prize in the eContent work programme for 2003 to 2004. As described in the eContent programme, dissemination of best practice and examples in the digital content arena may be supported also in the form of e-content awards. Such awards will have to cover the whole of Europe and focus on the primary objectives of the eContent programme as described in the Council decision. In order to ensure appropriate visibility to such awards, the support of Member States will be sought. The objectives of the tender are: - to organise the evaluation with a jury compound of international experts; - to promote the nominated products and the winners after they selection by jury; - to produce the required materials for promotion and showcasing including a DVD, a CD-Rom, a web showcase and a print catalogue and other media; - to organise and coordinate events designed to make public the nominated products and show the strength of the European multimedia industry to both consumers and producers, in particular SMEs in Member States and beyond. For further information, please contact: European Commission Directorate-General Information Society Content, Multimedia Tools and Markets, Unit D1 rue Alcide de Gasperi L-2920 Luxembourg Fax +352 43 01 349 59
