CORDIS provides further illustrations of Finnish involvement in European research and innovation
Since May 2000, CORDIS, the European Commission's Research and Development Information Service, has provided a site dedicated to national and European funded research in Finland. The service is a window to Finnish innovation related policies, infrastructures and activities. Supported by the National technology agency (TEKES) and the Academy of Finland, it introduces the research system, including programmes open to foreign entities and examples of innovation and relevant contacts. Additional information is now available on Finland's participation in the Fifth Framework programme (FP5). The service also offers descriptions of research results and transferable technologies. More than 1000 FP5 projects include at least one Finnish organization, most of them in the field of information society research. Direct access to research results provides complementary information on key trends and the principal stakeholders, including Helsinki and Tampere universities as well as Nokia research centre. In addition, users will find presentations of various technologies and have access to the latest figures as well as timely information on research policy. The site will prove useful for stakeholders and innovation actors seeking technology information and partners in Finland. It also illustrates the pragmatism of Finnish enterprises in using public funding and provides comparative data. This site is part of a comprehensive gateway in which each EU Member State has a dedicated service offering information on and access to R&D (research and development) information to support the completion of the European research area (ERA).
