The sixth 'Campus Party' event, taking place in Valencia, Spain, from 5 to 11 August will bring together the largest number of Internet users in the world, drawn largely from Europe and Latin America. The aim of the event is to allow users to share their experiences and concerns about the Internet, as well as encouraging them to take part in Internet related activities. Representatives of the 'Internet for all' programme of the Spanish Ministry of science and technology, which aims to bring more Spaniards online, will be present at the event. One of the organisers of the event, Yolanda Rueda said that the event had an important task 'to create awareness among people of the need for everyone to help Spain advance in information and communication technologies.' The Ministry of science and technology also sees the Campus Party event as key in achieving its goal of bringing the Internet closer to people. 'We believe that it is fundamental to support initiatives such as these and to pool our efforts, given that everyone is trying to achieve the same objective: to bring the Internet, with all its advantages and possibilities, to all the people,' said Borja Adsuara, the Ministry's director general for development of the information society.
