CORDIS Regional Gateway welcomes new research and innovation service on Baden-Württemberg
CORDIS, the Community Research and Development Information Service, is hosting a new service on innovation activities in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The service is developed jointly by the Innovation Relay Centre Steinbeis Europa Zentrum and the Agency for International Economic Cooperation, in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Science and Economy. It provides an introduction to the region's activities and infrastructures as well as coverage of participation in European programmes. Located in Southwest Germany, in the heart of Europe, this region is a 'State of tinkerers and thinkers,' says Science Minister Peter Frankenberg. The region devotes 3.9 per cent of GDP to research and hosts a large variety of higher education institutes as well as internationally renowned companies in electrical engineering or vehicle construction. The service offers information on the regional strategy and provides further insights into major innovation related initiatives both at local and international level. In addition, the service provides access to search facilities to identify organisations involved in European projects. Regional actors have been leading over 1600 European projects and more than 200 research results are available for transfer. Minister Frankenberg launched the service at the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) launch event on the 12 November 2002 in Brussels, Belgium. This new interface aims at contributing, from a regional perspective, to the 'internal research market', building upon strong experience in cross-border and transnational cooperation.
