Luxembourg innovation portal hailed as catalyst for participation in FP6
A new innovation and research portal based in Luxembourg has been described by the country's Minister for Culture, Higher Education and Research, Erna Hennicot-Schoepges, as a stimulant for 'seeking partners and Community cooperation within the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6)'. The portal was launched on 2 July by the Luxembourg government and Luxinnovation, the national agency for the promotion of innovation and research. It presents a list of technological competences available in Luxembourg, information on the technology market (including calls for proposals and tenders), and a guide to support for innovation and research. Minister for the Economy, Henri Grethen, claimed that the portal will contribute to the 'reinforcement of international visibility for Luxembourg's technological status' by offering actors the opportunity to present their innovative competences. This aspect was welcomed by Ms Hennicot-Schoepges, who called for the 'coming together of innovation and research actors in order to create an R&D [research and development] community in Luxembourg.' The portal was created as part of the eLuxembourg action plan, and was conceived as a means of providing free information, accessible to all.
