New virtual network for young researchers working on science and society issues
A virtual network for young practitioners working on science and society issues has been launched - a direct outcome of a European Commission and Joint Research Centre (JRC) conference held in November 2003. The network acts not only as a platform for researchers working on science and society issues, but as a forum for exchanging information on interests, events and relevant literature. The network will eventually be extended beyond the research community to non-governmental organisations (NGOs), policy makers and the media. The network's website is divided into four sections: - knowledge, uncertainty, legitimacy and values; - communicating among plural perspectives and Community based research; - transparency, openness and participation in science policy processes - emerging new styles of governance and ICT [information and communication technologies]. Each division has news and events sections, as well as a list of relevant publications. There is also a database of young researchers working this area and a forum for discussion.
