New service details eGovernment trends in Central and Eastern Europe
A new online service has been launched to monitor trends in the application of eGovernment in Central and Eastern European countries. 'eStrategies Central and Eastern Europe Online' is a free, weekly eZine highlighting the most important developments in eGovernment in what its authors, British Publishers Ltd, describe as 'the fastest developing region for eGovernment in the world.' The service offers news, analysis and trends direct from the key eGovernment actors in the region - from public administrators to academics and business executives. 'All around the world, eGovernment solutions are making public administration into an efficient, modern operation at the service of citizens. But in Central and Eastern Europe, where 25 nations are in transition from unworkable regimes, this process is both particularly rapid and of the greatest importance,' reads a British Publishers Ltd statement. No aspect of public administration will be left untouched by the massive transfer of technology to Central and Eastern Europe, financed largely by an investment of 60 million euro by the EU. Portals, citizen cards, national registers, back office integration and inter-agency networking are all at some phase of implementation in every country in the region. eStrategies Central and Eastern Europe Online will keep users updated on the major developments, such as where the latest technology is being applied, how and by who the decisions are being taken, which companies are winning the contracts, and what constitutes best practice in the field of eGovernment.
