The Parliament Magazine, a Brussels-based publication in which EU policy-makers get their say, has added a new research and technology category to its MEP Awards 2006. A ceremony will take place on 10 October in Brussels. The new category allows for the singling out MEPs who have done good work throughout the past year in the field of research and technology, by, for example, leading a report, or being involved and enthusiastic in this policy field. Launched last year, the MEP Awards aim to highlight and celebrate the work of MEPs in various policy areas. A shortlist of three MEPs in each category is made after gathering nominations from not-for-profit stakeholders in each of the policy sectors. The vote for the winners is then made by MEPs and their assistants.
