CORDIS launches new FP7 service covering Joint Technology Initiatives
In May 2007, the Commission adopted the first proposals for Joint Technology Initiatives (JTIs). This is the first time that public-private partnerships, involving industry, the research community and public authorities, have been proposed at European level to pursue ambitious common research objectives. On 20 December the European Council adopted the Regulations setting-up four Joint Undertakings, each one implementing a JTI as a public-private partnership, and establishing a new mechanism for funding integrated industrial research. A new service covering these developments has been launched as part of the suite of services supporting the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) provided by CORDIS, the EU's official information service for research and development. The new service includes news and frequently-asked questions about JTIs, as well as official documents. The individual JTIs approved or proposed so far are also profiled on the service.
