The European Commission is issuing a call for proposals for modal shift, catalyst, motorways of the sea, traffic avoidance and common learning actions under the second Marco Polo Programme. Marco Polo is an EU-funding programme which encourages the shift of freight transport from road to other, more sustainable and environmentally-friendly transport modes such as rail, sea, and inland waterways. The current, second Marco Polo programme runs from 2007-13 with a budget of EUR 450 million. The 2010 call for proposals has EUR 64 million of available funding for support of between 35% and 50% of eligible project costs. The Call 2010 is the first Call under the revised legislation of the second Marco Polo Programme. The new conditions for submitting a proposal will: - facilitate the participation of small enterprises, - lower the thresholds for eligibility, - increase the level of funding, - simplify the procedures. To see further details of the call, please consult: OJ C66 of 17 March 2010
