The European Commission has published a call for proposals for the Marie Curie International Research Staff Exchange Scheme under the 2011 'People' work programme of the Seventh Framework Programme. The Marie Curie International Research Staff Exchange Scheme is an action that aims to strengthen research partnerships through staff exchanges and networking activities between European research organisations and research organisations from countries with which the European Union has a science and technology (S&T) agreement or is in the process of negotiating one, and countries covered by the European Neighbourhood policy. Countries which have S&T agreements with the EU include: Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Chile, Egypt, India, Japan, Jordan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, Tunisia, Ukraine, and the United States. Countries covered by the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) are: Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Georgia, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Moldova, Morocco, Palestinian-administrated areas, Syria, Tunisia and Ukraine. Compared to individual Marie Curie Actions, this initiative provides support to research organisations to establish or reinforce long-term research cooperation through a coordinated joint programme of exchange of researchers for short periods. Under this action, a partnership needs to be composed of at least two independent participants established in at least two different Member States or associated countries, and one or more research organisations in a third country eligible under the aforementioned conditions. For organisations in Member States and associated countries, the mobility must be towards the other third country partners, and vice-versa. The duration of exchanges for each researcher or technical/management staff are for a maximum of 12 months. The indicative budget for the call is EUR 30 million. The call is one of three Marie Curie-related calls published on 20 October 2010: http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/dc/index.cfm?fuseaction=UserSite.FP7CallsPage&rs(opens in new window) To see the full details of the call, please consult the following web address: http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/dc/index.cfm?fuseaction=UserSite.FP7DetailsCallPage&call_id=382(opens in new window) To see the official call announcement in the Official Journal of the European Union please consult: OJ No C 283 of 20 October 2010(opens in new window)
