Call for expressions of interest for the ESPON 2013 Knowledge Support System
The European Commission has published a call for expressions of interest for the ESPON 2013 Knowledge Support System. Within the framework of Priority 1 of the European Observation Network, Territorial Development and Cohesion (ESPON) 2013 Programme, a Knowledge Support System (KSS) has been set up to make sure that projects of applied territorial research have a sound scientific base and meet a sufficient degree of scientific quality. This initiative aims to enlarge the existing pool of experts supporting ESPON applied research, in particular in themes such as: - the territorial dimensions of the EU2020 Strategy; - territorial scenarios for Europe; - territorial governance; - territorial potentials related to the green economy. The European Observation Network for Territorial Development and Cohesion supports policy development in relation to the aim of territorial cohesion and a harmonious development of Europe. The network provides comparable information, evidence, analyses and scenarios on territorial dynamics and reveals territorial capital and potentials for the development of regions and larger territories thus contributing to European competitiveness, territorial cooperation and a sustainable and balanced development. The ESPON 2013 Programme will apply research on territorial potentials and challenges focusing on opportunities of success for the development of regions and cities. Cross-thematic applied research will be a major activity integrating existing thematic analysis and adding future analysis of new themes. The impact of EU policies will be another important area of analysis. In support of the applied research actions a Knowledge Support System will be put in place to ensure high quality results. To see the official call announcement in the Official Journal of the European Union please consult: OJ No C 318 of 23 November 2010(opens in new window)
