Call for proposals for open platforms for web-based applications and services in Europe, enlarging the stakeholders' community
The European Commission has published a call for open platforms for web-based applications and services in Europe, enlarging the stakeholders' community. The study will identify 'new' stakeholders, in particular, European organisations that are active online but not in our EU-funded research and innovation programmes. These could be, for example, social networks leaders in the Members States, digital entrepreneurs, publishers, games industry, broadcasters, system integrators, national public administrations or information and communication technology (ICT) users. The study will also explore the state-of-the-art of open platforms and Web-based applications and services, and how this might evolve in the future (produce a technology roadmap, aligned with possible business cases). It will also identify technological challenges that may impact its evolution. The study will analyse the economic impact of open platform evolution towards the inclusion of a multiplicity of services and features (e.g. social networking, location, mobility...). It will also gather stakeholders groups in order to identify requirements for the future development of open platforms. Furthermore, the study will produce a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the social uses of the existing platforms and future trends. To see the official call announcement in the Official Journal of the European Union please consult: OJ No S 47 of 9 March 2011(opens in new window)
