The European Commission has published a call for analysis of Member States' progress with regard to climate change policy under the Europe 2020 Strategy. Sustainable growth is a priority of the Europe 2020 Strategy. As a result climate change policy is also an important part of this Strategy. Meeting the 2020 climate change and energy objectives includes the commitment of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20% below 1990 levels by 2020. The objective of this service request is supporting DG CLIMA in assessing national climate change policies and proposing country-specific recommendations in the context of the European Semester. The European Semester is a six-month period each year when Member States' budgetary, macroeconomic and structural policies are coordinated effectively so as to allow Member States to take EU considerations into account at an early stage of their national budgetary processes and in other aspects of economic policymaking. To see the official call announcement, please consult: OJ No S 190 of 4 October 2011(opens in new window)
