WATCH-TED: Tenders Electronic Daily at the click of a mouse
Tenders Electronic Daily (TED), the Commission's database of public tenders published in the Official Journal of the European Communities, is now accessible via a graphical user interface, WATCH-TED. The software is fully compatible with Microsoft Windows, thus reducing the new user's learning curve and freeing the resources normally devoted to training and assisting users in accessing and using TED. It offers Windows cut and paste, drag and drop, and point and click facilities. With WATCH-TED, users may search the various sections of the database (TED-Current, TED-Archive and TED-Demo) separately or perform a global search across the entire database. Searches are carried out by completing an on-screen search form, which includes all the searchable fields, thus relieving the user of the burden of learning a command language. The main features of WATCH-TED are as follows: - Full Microsoft Windows compatibility; - Handling of all the host connection and disconnection procedures, ensuring easy point and click access to the database; - Automatic query submission, giving the user the possibility to submit one or several searches daily at the click of a mouse; - Comprehensive range of searching functions: use of Boolean and proximity operators, date and range searching, left-hand truncation and phrase searching; - Large number of searchable fields including title of the call, abstract, type of document, nature of the contract, name of awarding authority, country of supply, publication date or document number.
