Has your EU-funded project created societal impact? Apply for the Horizon Impact Award!
Do you want to showcase the outcome of your R&I project and inspire others to help solve societal challenges? Did your project have an impact on the economy, policymaking, the environment or society? If so, you could win 1 of 5 prizes of EUR 10 000 and also be acknowledged for your success. How about featuring in a professional video and gaining wide media exposure and public interest in your achievements? With the application deadline fast approaching, now’s the time to get going and put yourself forward for the Horizon Impact Award(opens in new window)! The contest is open to all natural or legal persons, including international organisations or groups of legal entities that have received EU funding and completed a project under Horizon 2020 and its predecessor, the 7th Framework Programme (FP7). As noted in a document explaining the rules(opens in new window), European Research Council principal investigators or Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions fellows “and legal entities principally created by past beneficiaries for the exploitation of the project results, are also eligible.” Launched in March 2019, the award aims to show the wider socioeconomic benefits of EU investment in R&I. In addition, it enables individuals or teams to demonstrate best practices and achievements so that other beneficiaries are also encouraged to use and manage their results in the best way possible. Applicants must be able to demonstrate effective exploitation and uptake of their research results. The deadline for Horizon Impact Award applications is 2 April. Winners will also have the opportunity to network at the award ceremony in Brussels with high-level participants from business, finance and innovation. A new drug for a rare disease, prevention of child abuse, increased security of web browsing and protection of coastal areas against climate change impact were the outcomes of the R&I projects that won in 2019.
