The Launch of the ERC Online Academy
The ERC supports investigator-driven frontier research across all academic disciplines, on the basis of scientific excellence. This funding opportunity can be marked by its ‘elusive’ nature and abundance of both written rules and ‘unwritten’ expectations for success. Due to its counterintuitive nature, we know from experience that many researchers require customized training before they begin the long process of preparing highly competitive and professional applications that meet the expectations of the reviewers. At Enspire Science, we’ve been offering ERC workshops that convey these elusive terms and unwritten ERC requirements for success. These workshops have always received very positive feedback and high attendance, so we were certain we wanted to also offer them as online courses, to extend the impact of these courses and enable more to participate. As the COVID-19 pandemic took full force, we knew this was the time to shift to high gear, and put the final touches on these online courses so that all interested researchers and ERC applicants could view this information from the safety of their homes, and at their own pace.
