Specific RTD programme in the field of communication technologies
Council Decision 91/352/EEC of 7 June 1991, adopting a specific research and technological development programme in the field of communication technologies (RACE II, 1990 to 1994), is now published in the Official Journal. The programme's priorities include integrated broadband communication system functions, intelligence in networks, mobile and personal communication, image and data communications, integrated services technologies, advanced communications experiments, information security technologies and test infrastructures. Work shall embrace R&D on systems engineering, advanced communications technology and validation of standards and common functional specifications. Building on and extending the work of RACE I, the programme is adopted for the period beginning 7 June 1991 and ending 31 December 1994, with an estimated budgetary appropriation of ECU 484.1 million.
