Evaluation of projects submitted under the ongoing call for proposals for the SMT programme

On 15 June 1995, the European Commission published a series of calls for proposals for the specific programme for research and technological development in the field of standards, measurements and testing (1994-1998). Proposals for preparatory, accompanying and support measures are to be submitted under an ongoing call for proposals which is open, without interruption, until 30 July 1998 (12.00). This call covers the following themes of the specific programme: - Theme I: Measurements for quality European products, including written standards for industry; - Theme II: Research related to written standards and technical support to trade; - Trade III: Measurements related to the needs of society. Activities covered under this area include: - Studies and other activities for the preparation of future activities; - The analysis of the socio-economic consequences and technical risks associated with the programme; - The exploitation and dissemination of results; - Support for conferences, seminars and training courses; - Bursaries for training in direct association with RTD projects selected for funding. Projects submitted under this ongoing call for proposals will be evaluated during the period 10-21 December 1995. The evaluation will be carried out by a groups of experts appointed by the Commission on the basis of their experience in the area of standards, measurements and testing. They will include representatives from different industrial sectors, organizations, universities and research institutes in each of the Member States of the European Union, as well as from Associated States. Projects will be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria: - Conformity with the scope and objectives of the programme; - Technical justification; - Knowledge of the State of the Art; - Economic and social justification; - Scientific and technical merit; - Deliverables; - Profile and credibility of the consortium; - Justification of resources; - Exploitation and dissemination of results; - European dimension, technical cooperation and cohesion.
