EU Partner required for EU-China higher-education programme
The European Commission, DG I, is looking for an EU partner to manage a four-year EU-China higher-education programme (1996-1999). The European Commission and the Government of the People's Republic of China are presently finalizing an agreement to establish a four-year higher education programme in the field of European studies. The objectives of the programme are: - To strengthen the teaching of European studies in several specialized centres in China; - To develop European studies with the study of European languages in China; - To encourage training in governance issues and applied human resources; - To reinforce the European studies and research associations in China. The programme will be implemented through the funding of infrastructure support (including publications and curriculum development), fellowships/studentships in the EU for Chinese academics and policy makers, a European Visiting Professors' scheme for Chinese academic institutions and collaborative research, as well as high-profile information dissemination activities. The EU partner for this major project will be responsible, to the European Commission, for the day-to-day management of the programme and will be required to have an office in Europe as well as in China. The office in Europe should preferably be attached to an existing network of European studies centres established in EU universities. The selected EU partner will, therefore, be required to demonstrate: - Access to a strong infrastructure within the EU; - Experience in the academic world, including (but not limited to) European studies; - Proven capacity to undertake large-scale cooperation projects with experience in China. European education management institutions, academic networks and other organizations qualified to take on this task are, therefore, invited to submit expressions of interest summarizing their qualifications. Expressions of interest should be sent to: European Commission DG I - External relations Mr G. Hofmann Head of Unit I/F-2 Reference B-286/144-IB 200 rue de la Loi B-1049 Brussels
