The European Commission, DG V, has published an invitation to tender for technical assistance offices in the fields of public health and health and safety at work. The invitation to tender is divided into 10 specialized lots: - Lot 1: Policies and analyses of public health, development, coordination and assessment of programmes, indicators and health data; - Lot 2: Actions concerning illness linked to pollution, rare illnesses, voluntary and involuntary accidents and injuries; - Lot 3: Epidemiological surveillance of transmissible diseases, safety and self-sufficiency of the blood; - Lot 4: Cancer; - Lot 5: Drug addiction; - Lot 6: AIDS and transmissible diseases; - Lot 7: Promotion, information, education and training in health matters; - Lot 8: Accidents at work, participation of labour and management and competent authorities in health and safety matters, work health and hygiene, prevention of professional sicknesses, non-legislative measures for improving safety and health in workplaces such as those detailed in the SAFE programme; - Lot 9: Office automation assistance; - Lot 10: Information actions. The following tasks are envisaged for lots 1 to 8: - Supply, at the Commission's request, of technical and scientific advice and expert valuations in the fields involved; - Assist the Commission with: . The development of methodologies, criteria and evaluation processes; . The preparation of invitations to tender, calls for expressions of interest and calls for proposals; . The preparation of meetings, seminars, evaluating financed projects and programme actions on the basis of intermediary and final reports; . Data capture, operation, management and development of a database; - Analyse and prepare the evaluation of requests for financing for the Commission and the specific committees for each programme; - Establish a monthly progress report. The following tasks are provided for in lot 9: - Production of transparencies and slide shows, management, archiving, dissemination; - User training and support with starting up new applications; - Assistance within the context of system downsizing; - Studies and analyses within the context of setting up new applications; - Creation and updating of a computer "vademecum" for DG V. The following tasks are provided for in lot 10: - Assist the Commission with: . The development of strategies; . The implementation of promotion and information actions; . The drafting, editing and circulation of progress reports for programmes destined for the various Community actors in the fields of public health and safety at work; . The drafting, editing and illustration of descriptive documents covering Community action in matters relating to public health and health and safety in the workplace; - Establish a monthly progress report.
