The Community's Human Capital and Mobility (HCM) programme (1990-1994) has provided funding for 70 of Europe's large-scale facilities. As a result, more than 1,500 researchers from throughout the EU have had free access to these and have been able to carry out research at the cutting edge of science and technology. The final level of participation will be significantly higher, as some contracts will run until mid-1998. The brochure "Access to large-scale facilities funded by the Human Capital and Mobility programme" contains summaries of the 70 projects funded. For each facility, there is a summary, with illustrations, of its main features together with an overview of the research activities directly supported under the programme. Key facts, such as the location of the facility and contact person, are also provided. The HCM programme has now been replaced by the Training and Mobility of Researchers (TMR) programme under the Fourth Framework Programme (1994-1998).
