In the framework of the EuroCAIRN project, the European Commission, DG XIII, has published a call for proposals for a study on the "Needs and benefits of research networking". EuroCAIRN is a EUREKA project involving national research ministries and the European Commission. Its aim is to make network services available to the European academic and industrial research community. The objectives of the study are as follows: - Quantify the number of researchers using or potentially able to benefit from network services; - Quantify the economic and societal benefits of research networks; - Identify the future requirements for the provision of network services; - Estimate the investment required to develop network services in the medium term.
