The European Commission, DG XII, invites interested parties to submit proposals for RTD actions under the FAIR specific RTD programme in the field of agriculture and fisheries (1994-1998). The RTD activities covered by this call relate to the following areas of the work programme: - Objectives requiring concentrated means: Shared-cost actions (RTD projects), concerted actions: Area 2: Scaling-up and processing methodologies 2.1. Chemical and physical processes 2.2. Bioprocessing 2.3. Control systems Area 3: Generic science and advanced technologies for nutritious foods 3.1. Consumer nutrition and well-being 3.2. New and optimized food materials and nutritious food products 3.3. Advanced and optimized technologies and processes 3.4. Generic food science The Commission encourages the submission of concerted action proposals in the abovementioned areas. Industrial participation is also strongly advised for proposals submitted in response to this call. - Objectives addressed by means of horizontal activities: Demonstration activities: shared-cost actions (demonstration projects) concerning Area 1: "Integrated production and processing chains", and Areas 2 and 3 mentioned above. As a reminder, proposals concerning specific measures to assist SMEs (exploratory awards, cooperative research projects), as well as proposals for training and mobility grants, may be submitted at any time in an open call throughout the duration of the specific programme. The work programme, the information package and a copy of the model contract that will be drawn up for successful proposals are available on request from the Commission. Descriptions of work carried out under previous related programmes are also available on request.
