The European Commission, DG III, has published a call for expressions of interest for the collection of information, the carrying out of studies and the provision of technical assistance, leading to greater knowledge of problems in relation to the development of Community and global industrial policy. The purpose of this call is to undertake a selection process and draw up a list of service providers who will later be invited to tender for the activities described below. The list resulting from this call will be used exclusively for contracts whose estimated value is inferior to the thresholds prescribed in the relevant "public contracts" directives. The works to be carried out are contingent on political or economic requirements and will cover the following subjects: 1. Industrial affairs 1.1. Non-energy raw materials 1.2. Iron and steel industry, including first processing 1.2.1. Technical aspects (means of production, raw materials, processed products, research, etc.) 1.2.2. Economic and commercial aspects (market, prices, commercial policy, marketing, etc.) 1.2.3. Financial aspects (costs, investment financing, competitiveness of companies, etc.) 1.2.4. Political or international aspects (relations with third countries, international agreements, cooperation, etc.) 1.2.5. Scrap-metal market 1.2.6. Use of cast iron 1.2.7. New steel-production and rolling techniques 1.2.8. First processing: tubists and re-rollers 1.2.9. Cooperation with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, technical assistance and transfer of know-how, restructuring and privatization 2. Completion and operation of the internal market and industrial policy in the following sectors: 2.1. Chemicals 2.1.1. Basic industrial chemicals 2.1.1.1. Production of industrial gases 2.1.1.2. Production of dyestuffs and pigments 2.1.1.3. Production of other basic inorganic chemical products 2.1.1.4. Production of other basic organic industrial products 2.1.1.5. Production of synthetic products and fertilizers 2.1.2. Manufacture of agro-chemical products 2.1.3. Manufacture of paints and varnish 2.1.4. Pharmaceutical industry 2.1.5. Manufacture of soaps, perfumes and cleaning products 2.1.5.1. Manufacture of soaps, detergents and cleaning products 2.1.5.2. Manufacture of perfumes and toiletries 2.2. Manufacture of other chemical products 2.3. Manufacture of artificial or synthetic fibres 2.4. Rubber industry 2.5. Transformation of plastic materials 2.6. Recycling 2.7. Geological information 2.8. Eco-certification in matters relating to forests, wood, paper, graphics 2.9. Furniture 2.10. Printing and graphic arts 2.11. Audiovisual, press, books The contracts may take the form of study contracts, consultancy or the provision of services, depending on the nature of the works.
