Following the Council Decisions on the Third Framework programme for Community research and technological development and on the research and training programme in the field of nuclear fission safety (OJ No L 336 of 7.12.1991) the Commission of the European Communities is inviting proposals for research and technology development projects, concerted actions and accompanying measures, in conformity with the rules laid out in Annex III of the Decision on the specific programme. Subject areas comprise: Radiation protection (human exposure to radiation and radioactivity, consequences of radiation exposure to man including assessment and prevention and treatment, risks and management of radiation exposure); reactor safety (accident progression analysis, behaviour and qualification of the containment system, accident management control). Proposals can be submitted to the Commission by interested legal entities (enterprises, research institutions and universities) located in the Community or, under certain special conditions, in other countries. As a general rule, each project has to include at least two contractors in two different Member States (proposals from a single organization must state explicitly that the applicant is prepared to participate jointly with other partners).Detailed information on procedures for proposal submission plus background material on research topics are available on request from: Commission of the European Communities Ref.
