VULCANUS - European placement programme for Japanese students
The VULCANUS programme, run by DG III of the European Commission, in cooperation with the Japanese Ministry for Industry and International Trade, provides Japanese students with placements in European industry. The Commission is currently seeking applications from European companies interested in hosting a Japanese student for the 1997-1998 programme. The VULCANUS programme provides students with four months of language training in the language used by their host company, as well as two weeks of European studies. The students will then spend eight months on placements with their host companies. The aim of the programme is to improve understanding and cooperation between the EU and Japan. Companies interested in hosting a student need not have any connection with Japan. Students participating in the programme will be matched to companies, before their arrival in Europe, on the basis of their studies and experiences.
